About the event
This course focuses on robust research in neuroscience, pain, physiology and biomechanics to pull back the curtain on how all manual therapy works, including chiropractic manipulative therapy, soft tissue therapy, movement and exercise interventions. The focus is on maximizing your effectiveness through a greater understanding of mechanisms and skill development.
This course teaches how to modify traditional chiropractic and manual therapy practice to improve treatment outcomes and obtain more consistent results with complex pain and health conditions. There is an emphasis on how to harness the power of the biopsychosocial framework in practice.
- How to make a new patient initial visit a crucial part of a successful treatment. Increase your effectiveness in “patient compliance”.
- Assessment: Knowing which orthopedic tests are winners and which are losers.
- Treatment: Make everything you do better. Including your hands-on treatment, movement/exercise prescription and patient pain neuroscience education.
Learning Objectives
- Identifying when biomechanics are crucial and effect tissue health with a patient’s pain experience
- Analyzing the importance of psychosocial factors and how to use educational strategies, movement and manual techniques to influence those factors
- Appreciate the complexities of pain from a biopsychosocial perspective
- Exposure to new evidence-based frameworks on persistent pain to enhance practice outcomes, improve patient outcomes, and decrease practitioner stress.
Delivery
This will be a fun, informative and highly interactive weekend where the learners will enhance current research knowledge and attain skills to advance their practice.
Discussion, observation, case studies, practical applications, small group and partner work will be used to emphasize key learning objectives.
